The best way to deal with a mantis is to use fire. Use flame throwers, fire wyverns, or oil jars. I mean theae guys are super useful but kinda expensive to tame. If using this mantis to grind out metal, take a set of clubs along with you. Ascendant clubs in a 400% Mantis will 1 - 4 hit most animals on the server.
